The basement community room at Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration was jam-packed with community homeowners who gathered to learn how to combat various scams, including deed theft, foreclosure, and bank fraud. The event was held to educate and empower residents with the necessary tools and resources to protect their properties and financial well-being.

IMPACCT Brooklyn was present to share valuable resources, including foreclosure prevention counseling and their healthy homes program, Retrofit. Attorney General Letitia James, along with other local leaders, hosted an educational panel focusing on theft and foreclosure prevention.

Attorney General James emphasized the importance of obtaining legal representation if served with legal papers, stating, “If you’re served papers, it’s important that you get legal representation.” The educational panel covered critical topics related to scam prevention, offering practical advice and strategies to safeguard against fraudulent activities.

The event highlighted the community’s proactive stance in addressing and preventing scams, with a strong emphasis on education and legal support.
