IMPACCT Brooklyn Supports Small Businesses Over The Holidays!

With the holiday season in full swing, IMPACCT Brooklyn supports small businesses and urges you to do the same!

This past Small Business Saturday, IMPACCT Brooklyn distributed tote bags to twenty-five businesses up and down the Flatbush Avenue corridor, as part of a partnership with the Parkside Empire Merchant Association and Shop Small, Shop Local, American Express’s initiative to support local businesses. In the days leading up to Thanksgiving, volunteers stuffed these bags full of coupons, business cards, balloons and more, and shop owners handed them out as a way to thank customers for shopping locally, and to invite first-time customers back for repeat business.

Year-round, IMPACCT Brooklyn offers small business support for anyone who wants to start their own business, find a retail space, or develop a business plan. Our services include one-on-one business counseling, pro bono legal services, small business workshops, and neighborhood business ‘tours’ of vacant retail spaces.

Small Business Saturday might have passed, but Shop Small, Shop Local continues on Flatbush Avenue (with the Parkside Empire Merchant Association) and Washington Avenue (with the Washington Avenue Prospect Heights Association). Keep shopping locally! Small businesses with a distinctive character are essential to any strong community. They’re owned and operated by neighbors, friends, and family who care about you, and the well-being of the community. Because of their involvement in the neighborhood, small businesses fill your neighborhood’s specific needs, selecting inventory and services based on the needs of their local customers, while providing the community a unique identity. What’s more, a well-run small business will boost the local economy by keeping money in the community and creating jobs, often providing better wages than big chain stores.  Because of this, for every $100 you spend at a small business, $68 of those dollars will remain in the surrounding community.

If you have an idea for a small business, IMPACCT Brooklyn’s Economic Development Department is a one-stop-shop for anyone who wants to start their own business, find a retail space, or develop a business plan. Learn more about IMPACCT Brooklyn’s Economic Development Department and schedule a meeting for one-on-one business counseling today!
