With the holiday season fast approaching, IMPACCT Brooklyn urges you to #ShopSmall this upcoming #SmallBizSat on November 30th!
Small Business Saturday and #ShopSmall are nationwide movements celebrating the distinctive small businesses that help communities thrive and stay vibrant. The goal of Small Business Saturday is to encourage customers to get out and patronize your favorite local shops and restaurants. Supporting these businesses during the busy holiday shopping season gives them a leg up on big box chains and increases their chances of survival, which is essential to any strong community.
Some other reasons to support small businesses include:
- They’re owned and operated by neighbors, friends, and family who care about you, and the well-being of the community.
- Because of their involvement in the neighborhood, small businesses fill your neighborhood’s specific needs, selecting inventory and services based on the needs of their local customers, while providing the community a unique identity.
- A well-run small business will boost the local economy by keeping money in the community and creating jobs, often providing better wages than big chain stores. Because of this, for every $100 you spend at a small business, $68 of those dollars will remain in the surrounding community.
In short, by shopping or dining at small businesses throughout the year, you’re showing your support for the small businesses in your neighborhood and in the community you call your own.
“Small Business Saturday, #ShopSmall and #ShopLocal are about promoting the little guys that might be otherwise overlooked,” Dale Charles, IMPACCT Brooklyn’s Director of Economic Development & Commercial Leasing, said. “It’s important that we recognize small businesses for all that they do, which is why IMPACCT Brooklyn and the Parkside Empire Flatbush Avenue Merchants Association are excited to once again sponsor Small Business Saturday this year.”
This November 30th, join IMPACCT Brooklyn and the Parkside Empire Flatbush Avenue Merchants Association along Flatbush Avenue, from Parkside Avenue to Empire Boulevard, for some holiday deals and fun! All 30+ members of the Parkside Empire Flatbush Avenue Merchants Association are participating by offering a special deal for Small Business Saturday as a way to say thank you to customers for all their support over the past year.
