IMPACCT Brooklyn Board of Directors
Dave Hanzel serves as Director, Community Development Banking, at Capital One Bank. In this capacity, Hanzel manages affordable housing, small business, and financial well-being programs in several geographies, including the Northeast and California. Additionally, Hanzel serves as the Chief Reputation Risk Officer for the Commercial Bank, collaborates with lines of businesses to develop and promote products and practices that serve vulnerable consumers and manages the company’s Community Advisory Council.
Prior to Capital One, Hanzel served as the Deputy Director of the Association for Neighborhood and Housing Development (ANHD) from 2010 to 2012 and its Policy Director from 2006 to 2010. In these roles, Hanzel oversaw strategic direction, policy research, and campaign planning in collaboration with the organizations 100 community-based, non-profit members.
In addition to serving as Board Chair of IMPACCT Brooklyn, Hanzel serves as the Vice Chair of West End Residences Inc., which provides supportive housing to seniors, young women, and formerly homeless LGBT youth, and is a member of the Advisory Board of the Fund for Public Housing.
Previously, Hanzel was a Board Member of Community Board 4 in Manhattan where he served as the Co-Chair of the board’s Housing, Health & Human Services Committee. Hanzel received his M.P.A. from New York University and a B.A. in Government and Spanish from the University of Notre Dame.
