IMPACCT Brooklyn Supports Local Staffing for Small Businesses

IMPACCT Brooklyn is reaffirming their dedication to community development in the greater Crown Heights area by focusing their recruitment efforts within the surrounding neighborhoods. On Monday, October 29th, the nonprofit held their first Open House & Job Fair, with a second one scheduled for early November.

The organization hopes that, by filling several positions in the community organizing, economic development, finance, and marketing departments, they’ll act as a role model for small businesses throughout the borough. IMPACCT Brooklyn currently works with over 200 small businesses, providing technical and legal assistance. This open house is a natural extension of the values they promote.

By involving local residents into the nonprofit’s work at a ground level, IMPACCT Brooklyn will have their finger on the neighborhood’s pulse and gain a better grasp of problems the community regularly faces. From there, the organization can utilize new problem-solving tactics to address these issues. This move will allow IMPACCT Brooklyn to represent the community to the fullest extent.

“Hiring locally is a way of tapping into the community, and will give us a better understanding of the problems our neighborhoods face and help both our staff and local residents work towards better solutions for everyone involved,” human resources manager Sandy Diaz said.
