IMPACCT Brooklyn is making sure that small businesses have the support they need during this economic disaster. Be aware of scams for this process when help is needed. There is no cost to filling out applications for assistance.  The links below will help address some of the small business needs. GRANT PROGRAMS

  • PAYCHECK PROTECTION PROGRAM: An SBA loan that helps businesses keep their workforce employed during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis. For more information, click here.
  • ECONOMIC INJURY DISASTER LOANS (EIDL) & LOAN ADVANCE: The SBA’s Economic Injury Disaster Loan program provides small businesses with working capital loans of up to $2 million that can provide vital economic support to small businesses to help overcome the temporary loss of revenue they are experiencing. The loan advance will provide economic relief to businesses that are currently experiencing a temporary loss of revenue. Funds will be made available within three days of a successful application, and this loan advance will not have to be repaid. Apply here.
  • NYC SMALL BUSINESS CONTINUITY FUND: To help small businesses deal with the impact of COVID-19, the City has launched the NYC Small Business Continuity Loan Program. This program is available to New York City businesses with fewer than 100 employees that can demonstrate at least a 25% decrease in revenue as a result of COVID-19. Eligible businesses can apply for an interest-free loan up to $75,000. Apply here.
  • VERIZON-LISC SMALL BUSINESS RECOVERY GRANT LISC: An investment of $2.5 million from Verizon is making it possible for LISC to begin offering critical relief and resiliency-building support to small businesses facing immediate financial threat because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The funding will go to make grants of up to $10,000, especially to entrepreneurs of color, women-owned businesses and other enterprises in historically under-served places who don’t have access to flexible, affordable capital.   • FACEBOOK GRANT: Announced a grant program aimed at small businesses. For more information, click here. 
  • BARTENDER EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM: During these uncertain times, the USBG Foundation strives to be a resource for our bar industry community. Please find their COVID-19 Relief & Response Information here.
  • RESTAURANT WORKERS’ COMMUNITY FOUNDATION: An advocacy and action nonprofit created by and for restaurant workers information. For more information, click here.

LOANS PROGRAMS

  • NYC SMALL BUSINESS CONTINUITY FUND: offering zero-interest loans up to $75,000 for businesses with 100 employees are less. Complete the survey now.
  • SMALL BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (SBA) DISASTER LOAN FOR SMALL BUSINESSES: Intended for businesses in New York who have been impacted by COVID-19 to apply for low-interest loans from this federal program. Fill out your application here. UTILITY UPDATES

  • Con Edison and National Grid have suspended shut-offs for any customers who may have difficulty paying their utility bills. To learn more, visit their websites.

EVICTIONS INFORMATION

  • A 90-day moratorium has been issued on commercial and residential evictions, starting March 16th at 5:00 PM.

MORTGAGE UPDATES

  • The governor has requested (not required) lenders to impose a 90-day grace period on mortgages.

BUSINESS AND SALES TAX INFORMATION

  • SALES TAXES:
    • New York State is waiving late and penalty fees for sales tax that is paid late. The federal tax deadline has been extended to July 15.
  • BUSINESS TAXES:
    • When filing business or excise tax payments to The City of New York, businesses can request to have penalties waived when submitting a late-filed extension or return. For more information, click here.

PAID SICK LEAVE INFORMATION

  • Treasury, IRS, and Labor announce plan to implement coronavirus-related paid leave for workers and tax credits for small and midsize businesses to swiftly recover the cost of providing coronavirus-related leave. For more information, click here.

EMPLOYEE RIGHTS

  • The Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) requires certain employers to provide their employees with paid sick leave and expanded family and medical leave for specified reasons related to COVID-19. These provisions will apply from April 1, 2020 through December 31, 2020.

BURGLARY PREVENTION TIPS

  • Test your alarm with your central station provider and update emergency contact lists.
  • Make sure all cameras are functioning, are well positioned, and views are unobstructed.
  • Check that the time is accurate on your DVR and it can record for at least 30 – 60 days.
  • Change the combination of any safes, especially if employees have moved on.
  • Ensure all entrances are well-lit and there is adequate interior lighting.
  • Protect accessible windows with locks, security films, grilles, or bars.
  • Roof openings (skylights, ventilators) should be secured and alarmed.
  • Climbing aids, such as ladders, should be locked up or removed.
  • Cash registers should be empty and left open to prevent unnecessary damage.
  • Sidewalk openings and their frames should be secured and properly locked.
  • Make sure doors and door frames are of adequate construction, commercial grade locks are installed, functioning properly, and have edge guards to prevent prying.
  • Exposed hinges require non-removable pins.
