This Thanksgiving, Impacct Brooklyn connected with the community through two events:
- Turkey giveaways with Council Members Rita Joseph and Crystal Hudson, sharing tenants’ rights resources with neighbors.
- A food distribution at Risley Dent Apartments, sponsored by Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso and organized by the Risley Dent Tenant Association, which we helped form.
Our Tenant Organizing team empowers tenants with knowledge of their rights and offers services to prevent eviction, including:
- One-on-one tenant counseling and advocacy
- Assistance with home repairs
- Combating rent overcharges and landlord harassment
- Applying for rental subsidies
- Building and sustaining tenant associations
- Engaging in city and statewide housing justice coalitions
