Every day, the IMPACCT Brooklyn team works with community members who need help figuring out how to find or stay in safe, affordable housing.
Virginia Ribot is one of the newest members of the IMPACCT Brooklyn staff, but she’s more than ready to help our neighbors fight for their homes and community.
“As a victim of displacement myself, I know how important a resource organizations like IMPACCT Brooklyn are to protect our communities,” she says.
Born and raised in Williamsburg, Virginia joined IMPACCT Brooklyn’s Community & Tenant Organizing team in January as a community organizer.
She previously worked with local groups El Puente and Mothers Out Front to bring awareness of how air pollution and climate change affects our low-income and working class communities.
Virginia joins IMPACCT Brooklyn’s Lead Community Organizer Shayla Austin and their fellow organizers in our ongoing mission to help tenants who face landlord harassment, rent overcharges, overdue repairs, and unlawful evictions.
“Community organizing,” Virginia adds, “is about building relationships, bringing awareness to our communities, and doing what we can to solve problems.”
If you need help with a landlord or building issue, Virginia and her fellow organizers are ready to help! Just call (347) 482-0565 or visit their office at 1124 Fulton Street to make an appointment.
