Racial Equity Statement

At IMPACCT Brooklyn, we strive to embody the call to build flourishing communities. Our mission to strengthen neighborhoods through housing, community development, and economic opportunity is inseparable from our commitment to racial justice, accessibility, belonging, and excellence—values that shape both our work and our culture.
Guided by these principles, we take a comprehensive, intersectional approach that embraces people of all backgrounds, identities, and lived experiences. Through more than 50 years of community engagement, we have witnessed firsthand how structural racism creates barriers to housing stability, economic mobility, and community prosperity.
We are committed to dismantling these barriers through intentional action. This means centering community voices in our decision-making, applying a racial equity lens to our programs and operations, and leveraging our networks with elected officials, funders, and stakeholders to advocate for systemic change.
Our work demands nothing less than transformation—of systems, of outcomes, and of the communities we are privileged to serve.

Our Mission

We build, restore, and preserve quality housing and educational services to keep our residents rooted in Brooklyn.

Our Strategy for Nurturing Strong Communities

Affordable Housing

First, we seek to preserve and create affordable housing, because fulfilling the fundamental right to affordable housing is a cornerstone for establishing human well-being, preventing displacement, and enhancing economic, racial, and cultural diversity.

Economic Development

Second, we seek to promote and support the development of small businesses and vibrant commercial corridors as the engines of opportunity to create jobs for community residents, bring better services to our neighborhoods, and enhance our community as a place to live.

Community Advocacy

Third, we empower residents to actively shape their neighborhoods. Through community advocacy, we build leadership, amplify local voices, and strengthen collective action to address social issues, advocate for equitable policies, and protect tenant rights. Our efforts ensure communities remain resilient, inclusive, and reflective of residents’ values and aspirations.
