IMPACCT Brooklyn is making headway on selecting applicants for the Athena Apartments – thanks to the help of some tireless volunteers!
This past summer, we announced that we’d be accepting applications for the 114 brand new units at 909 Atlantic Avenue and 1043 Fulton Street through October 16th. In a short two months, 79,164 Brooklynites applied, both through the mail and digitally via HPD’s Housing Connect website.
Now, a small army of volunteers spent much of the last week with IMPACCT Brooklyn, sifting through the 864 paper applications we received in the mail, processing every single one by hand and entering them into Housing Connect, so these applicants could receive a fair chance at this affordable housing opportunity in our community.
Thanks to IMPACCT Brooklyn, these volunteers have a greater understanding of the NYC Housing Lottery and the Who, What, Where, When, and How of affordable housing and the lottery paper entry process, as well as more experience with routine data entry.
