On Friday, June 7, 2024, 30 eager New York City residents gathered at the Brooklyn YMCA in Flatbush, aspiring to become future Section 8 tenants. This event coincided with the opening of the New York City Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program waitlist, available for the first time in nearly 15 years.
With the application deadline set for June 9, many hopeful applicants joined IMPACCT in partnership with Council Member Farah Louis to receive assistance and information about the process. During the event, our team provided screenings and application support to the diverse community members, helping those who might struggle with the online application and educating them about the process.
