New York City Mayor Eric Adams recently announced the reopening of the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program after nearly 15 years of closure. The program, administered by the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA), offers rental subsidies to eligible low-income families for housing in the private market.
Applications will be accepted from June 3th to June 9th, marking a significant step in addressing the city’s housing crisis.
This initiative aligns with Mayor Adams’ commitment to creating 500,000 new homes by 2032 and underscores NYCHA’s dedication to providing affordable housing solutions.
Eligible applicants can apply online through NYCHA’s website, with a new waitlist expected to be established by August 1st. The program aims to provide equal opportunities for all applicants, regardless of when their applications are submitted.
