Juneteenth Food Festival presented by Weeksville Heritage Center and Black Owned Brooklyn

Weeksville Heritage Center and Jummy’s Picks by Black-Owned Brooklyn are partnering again for their third annual Juneteenth Food Festival!

From sizzling barbecue and crispy catfish, to red velvet cake and homemade ice cream (plus abundant vegan options), the festival is steeped in tradition. Food has been a part of Juneteenth since its first observance in 1866, commemorating June 19, 1865 — when enslaved Texans received news of their freedom, two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed.

In addition, the festival features a marketplace of specialty items from local Black artisans and dynamic programming including all-day sets by the Soul Summit DJ crew, performances by champion double dutch team the Jazzy Jumpers, workshops by Haus of Glitter dance collective and restorative yoga led by Sensate Wellness.

There will also be art-making activities, food demos and more!

Date: June 15th
Time: 11am-8pm
Location: 158 Buffalo Avenue, Brooklyn NY 11213
