Our Community Impact

Since 1964, IMPACCT Brooklyn’s footprint on the issues that matter most to our communities — including affordable housing, tenant rights, small business, and homeownership — continues to grow.

IMPACCT Brooklyn worked with community members and partners between 2016 and 2017 to make strides for Central Brooklyn residents and entrepreneurs.

The following reflects data collected from 2016-2017.

Community & Tenant Organizing

Conducted 484 one-on-one housing counseling sessions

Served 277 clients in legal clinics

Facilitated 252 tenant association meetings

Conducted 115 successful housing interventions

Conducted 16 building surveys

Filed 13 HP cases for repairs in Housing Court

Provided 50 clients with senior citizen or disability increase exemptions

Formed tenant groups in 38 rent-regulated buildings

Identified 20 predatory equity buildings

Conducted 40 lead tests in apartments

Conducted 10 outreach/information events reaching 688 individuals

Economic Development

Connected nearly 371 entrepreneurs and small business owners with legal and financial services

Helped open 3 new businesses and retained 34 small businesses through mediating conflicts or assisting with lease negotiations

In addition to our continued partnership with the FAB Alliance, IMPACCT Brooklyn supported 2 additional associations:

Homeowner Services

Reached over 1,835 people through participating or organizing 60 housing awareness events

Counseled nearly 410 households on foreclosure

Secured nearly 48 permanent or trial modifications

Individually counseled 129 first-time home buyers

Held 11 First-Time Home Buyer workshops, attended by over 447 people

Personal Finance

Over 315 residents participated in financial literacy workshops or information sessions

Helped 215 people improve their credit rating

Held 29 Personal Finance workshops and information sessions

Affordable Housing

Held 3 lottery training workshops, attended by over 250 people

Reached over 787 people through participating in or organizing 10 events

Working with 8 developers to provide affordable housing units to community residents
